When the Honduras Mission Team last shared an update during Laity Sunday this past October, the group was celebrating its 20th anniversary and preparing for a busy fall and winter season. Since then, the team has completed a full schedule of fundraising and outreach activities, participating in ten regional festivals and events. Along the way, volunteers produced and sold at community events:
This season of activity continued with the team’s second annual Lenten Fish Fry, which welcomed 387 guests. Notably, 244 attendees were first-time visitors to the church, representing a 7% increase in attendance over the previous year.
While the scope of these efforts is significant, the team views its work not simply as fundraising, but as a response to a deeper calling. For more than 21 years, members have remained committed to hands-on mission work in Honduras, believing that direct engagement builds meaningful relationships and reflects the heart of the Gospel.
Over the years, the team has partnered with local communities to help construct two churches, support the United Methodist Mission headquarters in Tegucigalpa, and lead a wide range of ministry activities. These include Vacation Bible School, men’s, women’s, and youth programs. Additional efforts have included organizing and delivering blessing baskets, leading sewing and textile workshops, and providing more than 2,000 fluoride treatments to children and families.
Looking ahead, the Honduras Mission Team is preparing for its 10th mission trip, scheduled to take place in July 2026. The 14-member team includes five individuals who will be traveling to Honduras for the first time. During the two-week trip, participants will work alongside local pastors and congregations in communities near Danlí, in the capital city of Tegucigalpa, and in Ciudad España. The itinerary also includes a first-time visit to One Day Revival Ministries.
The team’s goals for the trip are centered on faith and relationship:
Planned activities include:
As in past years, the team will serve alongside local church members, supporting and complementing ongoing ministry efforts.
The Honduras Mission Team expresses deep gratitude for the continued support and prayers of the congregation. As preparations continue, they invite the church community to join them in prayer for a safe and meaningful journey, grounded in service, humility, and faith.
